Renault has revealed the first details of its new Embleme concept, set to make its global debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.
The main highlight of the new Embleme concept is the fact that it is said to slash its cradle to grave greenhouse gas emissions by 90% compared with an equivalent vehicle built today (to a total of just five tonnes of CO2 equivalent).
To achieve this, the concept car makes use of a host of recycled materials with a low carbon footprint and natural materials as well as production processes that rely entirely on renewable energy. Also aiding affairs here is the fact that it makes use of both a rechargeable battery and a hydrogen fuel cell.
This drivetrain comprises of a 215bhp electric motor that uses no rare earths. This motor is powered by a 40kWh battery. This is said to be enough for a range of several hundred kilometres, but if more range is needed, a 30kW fuel cell can power the vehicle, fed by a 2.8kg tank.
Combined, the Renault Embleme is said to be able to cover a distance of up to 1,000 km as rapidly as a conventional combustion vehicle, while only making two stops to top up on hydrogen (with each stop taking less than five minutes).
If this does not impress, there's also the design of the Embleme to consider. Adopting a shooting brake body, the car is said to blend sportiness, elegance and emotion, all while deliver a drag coefficient of just 0.25. You'll also not the concept does away with its rear view mirrors, while its windscreen wipers are concealed under the bonnet and e-latch handles recessed into the bodywork. It also comes with full disc wheels, all designed to smoothen air flow around its body.
