While the XPENG X9 only reached our shores at the start of the year, the high-tech MPV was first delivered to customers in its domestic market at the start of last year.
After just over one year in the market, XPENG has updated the X9, introducing the 2025 version. On the outside, the X9 looks the same as before. However, changes underneath the body are plenty.
The 2025 X9 might look the same on the outside, but it has actually been substantially enhanced with 496 technical upgrades
The 2025 X9 has been enhanced with 496 technical upgrades and 35% newly developed components. The new X9 will also be powered by XPENG's new Turing AI chip, featuring Turing AI Smart Driving as standard, fully utilising end-to-end large models to deliver an intelligent driving experience comparable to that of a skilled human driver.
Customers (in the domestic market of mainland China) will be able to enjoy the industry's first complete autonomous driving software (NGP) that enables seamless parking lot-to-parking lot navigation without interruptions.
Equipped with the new 5C Superfast Charging AI battery, the X9 can be charged from 0-80% in just 12 minutes
Intelligent driving assistance aside, the X9 also comes with considerable upgrades on all fronts. It is now equipped with XPENG's 5C Superfast Charging AI battery where 1km range can be added on a one-second charge - allowing 0-80% charge in just 12 minutes.
Comfort is assured with the 2025 X9 as it is now fitted with zero-gravity seats, one-click folding third-row seats, a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, and a hot and cold refrigerator. A smart chassis further ensures manoeuvrability and ride quality.
The X9 has been equipped with a state-of-the-art suspension system with an anti-motion sickness algorithm
The X9 is the only electric MPV to be equipped with active rear-wheel steering, granting it a tight turning radius. Additionally, the X9 is equipped with an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system, supported by the AI Magic Carpet Chassis with 6D comfort anti-motion sickness algorithm.
At launch, the 2025 XPENG X9 will be offered in four variants - 650 Long Range Max, 740 Ultra Long Range Max, 702 All-wheel Drive High Performance Max and a range-topping 'Starship' variant. The numbers in the variants denotes the CLTC range of the respective cars, with the Starship variant being a fully-equipped 702 All-wheel Drive High Performance Max model.
The Long Range variants will complete the century sprint in 7.7 seconds while the All-Wheel Drive High-Performance variant will do it in just 5.7 seconds.
The new XPENG X9 will start from 359,800CNY (SGD64,453) in China, which is the same price that the X9 was originally launched at. With this, XPENG has enhanced the X9 considerably without increasing the base price of the car.
The new X9 is expected to launch in selected Europe regions in the second half of this year. It is also expected to arrive in Singapore in the third quarter of this year. However, the variants offered in Singapore might differ from those mentioned in the global launch and specifications aren't confirmed yet. Additionally, the full XPENG XNGP autonomous driving system is currently limited to mainland China's domestic market at the moment.
