Toyota has revealed the bold new Aygo X A-segment crossover.
The car gets a bi-tone exterior paint finish, with colour schemes said to be inspired and named after different spices (Cardamom, Chilli, Ginger and Juniper). There's also a new wedged roofline to give the car a dynamic and sporty image.
In the front, high-tech lamps hug the upper bonnet to form a wing-like shape. A large grille also sits up front, supported by fog lamps and skid plate to emhasise the car’s new crossover status.
Built on the TNGA GA-B platform, the Aygo X comes in at 3,700mm long and 1,740mm wide. These dimensions give the car unbeatable manoeuvrability around tight city streets. Its 4.7m turning radius also said to be the tightest in the segment.
A raised seating position and total vehicle height of 1,525mm will meanwhile ensure a good view of other road users. Here, Toyota has also adjusted the A-pillar angle for improved outward visability.
In the cabin, a 9.0-inch high-definition touchscreen display will provide access to the Toyota Smart Connect infotainment system. Ambient lighting and wireless charging meanwhile, come as standard for the car.
The Toyota Aygo X will also come with an accompanying 'MyT' smartphone app, which will allow users to keep track of various vehicle data and information, such as driving analytics, fuel levels, warning alerts and a vehicle tracker.
An optional retractable canvas top will also be offered with the Toyota Aygo X. Optimised sound-insulating materials here have also been used to minimise interior noise levels.
European markets will get their Aygo X powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder producing 71bhp and 93Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a continuously variable transmission, although a manual is also offered. The zero to 100km/h sprint time is stated as 15.5 seconds for the CVT-equipped model.
