Renault Twizy pricing and availability announced

Two versions of the Twizy electric runabout will be offered when the car goes on sale across Europe at the end of 2011. The base model is called the Twizy 45, which has a 5bhp engine and a top speed of 45km/h, and can be driven in some countries without a license. The Twizy 45 is available from €6,990, excluding the battery pack, which has to be leased for a further €45 a month.

The other model available is the standard Twizy, which has a 17bhp electric motor that is good for a top speed of 80km/h, and comes in two trim levels, Urban and Technic, retailing at €7,690 and €8,490 respectively. The battery pack for the Twizy is available for lease at €49 a month.

Both the Twizy 45 and the Twizy are powered by a lithium-ion battery which enables the runabout to travel up to 100 km on a single charge. The battery can be recharged through a standard household socket via a cable located in the front of the vehicle, and a full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours.
