Sebastian Loeb's demands for a company car more impressive than the C4 by Loeb have finally been met with the limited edition Citroen DS3 Racing. 1,000 cars will be made, and it goes on sale in the autumn.
Under the bonnet
The Racing DS3 gets a 200hp version of the BMW/PSA-developed 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, which develops 156hp in more pleb-spec DS3s and 175hp in the MINI Cooper S. Torque is also up from 240Nm to 275Nm for greater flexibility. The mods consist of a higher boost pressure for the turbo, remapped ECU and a tweaked exhaust.
Driving feel
Citroen claims that the DS3 Racing has been developed to be all about driving feel. So to help this, there's a bespoke setup for the ESP, the front and rear tracks have been widened by 30mm, the car has been lowered 15mm on stiffer springs, and the dampers are all new too. The front brakes are bespoke enlarged, four-pot items, while the rears are standard albeit with drilled discs.
All about looks
On the outside, the DS3 Racing gets a motorsport-inspired bodykit which hints at the DS3 S2000 car that Sebastian Loeb will drive in next year's WRC. The road car also gets 18-inch wheels, this special grey paint and some nice stickers.
On the inside
Carbon trim, plenty of orange plastic and a pair of sports seats let you know that this particular DS3 is a bit special. Each of the 1,000 cars gets an individually numbered plaque too.
