Went by to take a look at the new Harrier at Borneo

First looks, not much or no changes in the exterior.

The changes is Toyota ditched turbo for a 2.5L engine with hybrid, feeling it too taxing on the taxes side already.

Interior still has the premium feel of Harrier with the leather stitchings, quality leather felt seats, electric seats, good legroom and headroom too.

Sunroof was not there as well and the console is no longer flushed into the vehicle too, thus losing some points being premium and looking like its sibling, RAV4. Electric tailgate is there as default now with foot kick open.

Driving and safety features like front collision, radar cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure assist, adaptive high beam, parking support, blind spot, TPMS, rear traffic alert, plus many vehile settings you can play around with.

Drive off was slight halt but was still acceptable. On the road, it seems quiet cause of hybrid but when you overtake and revved, it roars up, perhaps due to lack of turbo, thus using conventional engine capacity to dash in.

At normal mode, its quiet drive but when you put to sports, its dashing seems forcefully pushed in. Another one due to lack of turbo.

Parking is easy for this Harrier as if did not recall wrongly, the mirrors will auto tilt down at R shift mode.

Overall, if you want a luxury SUV for its many added features, pick this Harrier but you need to factor in the high cc and cannot be dashed like its previous generation that is a 2.0L Turbo. Unless you add gadgets like the popular InterStar pedal.

What I like
Many driving and safety features included
Luxury feel interior better than previous generation

What I do not like
Laggy even at 2.5L Hybrid
No Turbo
Same shape as previous generation
Console not flushed in
No sunroof option

It's the Toyota Harrier we all know and love, give an clean new look on the outside and a simplified and more cohesive design in the cabin.

What I like
Clean new sleek design alongside the neat cabin and interior layout.

This hybrid system is also reasonably strong enough to pull this harrier about without letting in too much of its strain made known to those in the cabin, so you can look forward to quiet and comfortable rides.

What I do not like
Nil.

This new Harrier has been completely redesigned from the previous iteration that was so popular here in Singapore.

It's sleek, and mighty soft on the environment as well with this familiar hybrid drivetrain.

What I like
It's not as visually impressive as before, but more so only because rivals have steeped up their SUV offerings by such a huge margin since.

There's full-width lighting at the rear, and slim head lights up front, and a new cabin that looks like it should belong in a premium car. Leather abounds everywhere in the cabin. Very nice.

The drive is also excellent. Quiet, and mighty economical is what the Harrier offers. It's a car that makes you feel like you're relaxed on the road and eases you in for every drive. Get this and you'll be able to melt all the stress from work away on your way home.

What I do not like
The infotainment screen and instrument cluster are wanting for an upgrade. Not only are they small next to what rivals are currently offering, the fonts used, the contrast levels offered, are all not great.

Love the exterior design, no doubt 1 of the coolest looking SUV, was interested with RAV4 but don't like the rugged feel but prefer more luxury Harrier.

Very stable and good handling car to drive around, insulation is not bad as well. Places you touch are all leather soft touch.

One of the kind panoramic sun roof and digital rear view mirrors as well as full LED tail brake top lamp and full line makes it even more futuristic.

Went and test Mazda CX8, KIA Sorento hybrid Hyundai Santa. CX8 has its flaws, FC being the main, and still can't trust Korean cars especially millions are been recalled recently due to potential exploding engines. GLA is too small and GLC is too expensive.

Borneo should've given us the highest trim or option do get it like overseas market.

All in all no regrets buying this hybrid luxury harrier, reliability is the key in choosing Toyota.

What I like
Comfort
Smooth & quiet ride
Great handling
Superb FC 18-21 easily
Unique panoramic sun roof
Top full bar break lamp
Full line across tail lamp
Dual exhaust
Sporty coupe exterior
Luxury interior
Great insulation
Full package of Toyota safety sense

What I do not like
A pillars design have wind noise at high speed
8 inch info screen despite luxury highest trim
18 rim instead of 19
Engine tad noisy at high rev
Front passenger no height adjustment
No JBL sound system despite luxury highest trim

No regret  Posted on 30 Mar 2022

Like:
1) Comfort
2) Nice to drive
3) leg room is huge
4) Stable
5) Reliable
6) Easy to maintain
7) maintenance definitely headache and fuss free
7) Good fuel consumption. 18-21/km.
What I dislikes, yes, console is boring, sound system not that bad but signal not that good especially underground highway.
Having driven Harrier turbo, decided to make a switch to Hybrid. No regret so far. Harrier being a harrier, definitely cannot compare to European car that comes with luxurious interior and full of electronics stuffs. But then I can't bear to fork out high maintenance cost if I am unlucky that the car gives me problem. If you google, BMW is the number one highest maintenence car thou is my dream car. Mercedes also my dream car but after hearing some friends paying $10k to change her absorber for her E class... My jaw drop wide open. She is rich so is fine.. But because I want a fuss and headache free car, Toyota is the only brand that old aunties old uncle will trusts. So i trusts old uncle taste. Lol

Had this car for the past 4 months and average 20km/L. Under hard driving 17 km/L. Car handling is ok but it isn't built like a sport car. Roomy interior, has all the creature comforts, should be on your list if you're looking for a vehicle to just use, service and when it's time, change to something else rather than fussing about how expensive or rare the parts are or how expensive the labour is.

After driving for a month 2000km. The fuel consumption range from 19 to 24km/landing. Avg 20km/l under Normal mode. It is a huge car especially the width makes publicparkingtricky. Console with Android car play of 8 inch is disappointing with a 12 inch frame. It is a huge and heavy car that make you feel not to drive fast. Missing the urge or mojo but just cruising along to enjoy the comfort of the car. Overtaking is no issue at all.

What I like
1. Fuel saving. Avg 20km/l Normal mode.
2. Comfort
3. Huge interior
4. Ease of servicing.
5. Smart sensing air con
6. Height of car.

What I do not like
1. 8" display console instead of 12"
2. Memory seat some time not remembering especially after car wash.
3. Fan noise from the hybrid battery under the rear seat need getting used to.
4. Car carpet is disappointing
5. Cannot off the headlight manually
6. Black Vue car cam not as good as Thinkware.

European clone. Trying to copy Jag. Now priced even more than Conti and yet resale drop by 30% Within 1 year. Lost identity. Borneo Motors greedy.

What I like
Reliably boring.

What I do not like
Interior is designed and made by Toyogo !!

$180k for a Toyota SUV. LOL

Cramped- trying to copy coupe styling of Conti yet engine is feeble

The Harrier has been one of the nicer SUVs available in the market. The updated design on this hybrid model looks very pleasing, with design cues that reminds of higher-end luxury European brands such as Jaguar. Definitely a good thing.

The interior of Toyota has always been OK, not too fancy but nicely built, this time round they managed to give the interior a more luxurious and updated feel.

What I like
- Nice European style design
- Love the moonroof!
- Good fuel consumption
- Sufficient power

What I do not like
- Quite expensive for a Toyota Harrier
- 2.5 litre, EXPENSIVE road tax! Since it is a hybrid, they should have went with a smaller engine.

You get a sleeker looking exterior with the new Harrier, and the hybrid gets you good fuel economy as well!

What I like
17km/L easily achievable even on a short test drive. The engine is strong enough, and its really quiet and smooth. The ride is good as well. I would say its decently comfortable, and you get soft padding all around the cabin.
If you get the higher-spec hybrid there's a cool sunroof that can be frosted like in those hotel rooms so the light coming into the cabin is not as harsh. Great for romantic evening drives, or if you drive to work early in the morning!

What I do not like
nil.

Test drove the Premium version. Exterior looks dubious, and a rip-off of another make. Interior is claustrophobic for a car this big. Gloomy black lining with tacky media center. Plenty of cheap plastic from the Toyota models 1/3 this price. Muted with dampening. Horrible whiny hybrid when accelerating. Blinker signals at the bottom !! What was Toyota thinking ! Arrogant Borneo Motors staff as if the car is so high in demand that I had to get their attention.

What I like
Free aircon at showroom

What I do not like
The Harrier has been destroyed. $190k for a pseudo-Lexus wannabe ??? Tsk Tsk. Borneo Motors Singapore are getting very very greedy and arrogant

Intriguing looking at first, but the more you look it at, the more it looks like a catfish trying to copy a Jaguar SUV. Not well put together. Some plasticky bits don't fit together at the window seals. Feels like a large Prius to drive. Cabin is quite well insulated but sooo claustrophobic for an SUV this size. The outgoing Harrier was much more manly than this catfish.

What I like
-Some safety features

What I do not like
-Whining drone engine
-Poor Borneo Motors aftersales support likely. They can't fix things when their cars go wrong
-Claustrophobic for a car this size thanks to coupe-esque styling tacky
-Overpriced. estimated 30% depreciation within first year !
-Tiny signal lights at the bottom rear. Invisible to car behind. Accident waiting to happen
-Tacky looking infotainment, tiny screen, huge bezels
