How does a steering system work?
The function of a steering system is to control the direction of the car. When the steering wheel is turned, the rotational movement is converted to lateral movement by the steering rack to the wheels of the car.
What are the main steering linkages and their role in the steering system?
The steering linkage consists of a set of components connected to the front wheels of a vehicle. Listed below are the main components and their primary roles.
How does it work?
Transmits movement from the steering gear to the wheels through the steering knuckle. Axial rods pick up axial force and connect the tie rod ends with the steering gear.
The + features of TRW’s range
Range in Asia Pacific
China 146 ICN, 77% carparc coverage; Malaysia 305 ICN, 85%coverage, Thailand 293 ICN, 77% coverage
How does it work?
Connects the axial joint and the wheels, transmitting force from the rack gear to the steering knuckle. The tie rod end (outer ball joint) is close to the wheel while the axial rod (inner ball joint) is close to the centre of the vehicle.
The + features of TRW’s range
TRW tie rod ends have a hot forged or cold formed housing design with a shape suitable for all cha...
