Review
The Peugeot 408 is the sleekest looking car from the firm in a long time. It's angular, looks fast even when sitting still, and is actually quite a long vehicle - so more metal for your money.
What I like
That rear. Looks like some concept car. The simple dashboard layout. Easy to access menus thanks to the new infotainment system. The light steering, and that great 1.2-litre unit, although in this 408 it admittedly feels just a little out of its breadth.
What I do not like
You buy thins knowing full well that the all-electric variant is going to be so much better so...
Exciting exterior, but not much else to stir the soul | Posted on 05 Nov 2023 |

Review
The Peugeot 408 comes with a mighty impressive exterior. It's visually more low-slung and longer than anything we've seen from the firm in a long time
What I like
Body panels that give you something new to look at every time you look at the car, notice the DRLs are two vertical strips separated from the main head light cluster, the chunky rear with impressive triple-strip taillights...
There's a nice, weighty steering wheel, and the sound from that 1.2-litre is also quite nice, blunted only by the fact that the car does feel quite heavy.
What I do not like
Could use a sportier ride.

Review
If you're after something different but don't want to blow the budget, this could well be it. It's sleek, has interesting lines all about, and is that trending fastback body that all the premium firms want to offer. But is it as good a drive?
What I like
In short, yes. This Peugeot 408 continues to be as comfortable as the rest of the SUVs in its lineup, but does away with any floatiness in the ride, making this fastback a really pleasing city commuter.
As always, the 1.2-litre is pleasant sounding, and pushes the 408 along with just about enough strength. Although this car somehow does not feel as fast as the 308 or 508. Blame that perhaps on the planted ride.
What I do not like
You'll need to get used to the driver cockpit layout. The steering wheel is prone to obstruct the driver's instrument cluster.

408 Allure
Stand out, sleek unique looking car on the road.
Looks like a cousin to the much more expensive Ls (Lamborghini & Lotus)
What I like
Great driving feel, as compared to most non-continental cars.
Great interior, as compared to most non-continental cars.
Love the liftback
Great torque for a 1.2L engine
Adequate torque for our roads
What I do not like
Does not have the Focal sound system
Could do with a little more BHP
but torque is more than adequate for our roads.
