Before the Saab 9-3 gets replaced in a couple of years, we take the current model, in Hirsch Performance-tuned form, out for one last drive. |

One of the best understated cars I've ever driven `
|
|
I've owned a Saab 9-3 Wagon and recently just purchased a Saab 9-3 Sedan. I must say of all the cars I have driven, it's only Alfa Romeo & Saab that leaves a very very strong impression. The Saab 9-3 is very reliable as any Japanese cars, maybe it's the older Saab that gives Saab a bad name, plus Singaporean is "brand" conscious thinking it is insane to pay more to buy a Saab than a BMW or Merc..frankly speaking I heard more issues faced by friends owning BMW, Mercs with electronics issue. Saab is a truely understated car that has the real "SAAB"stance

Strong car with strong competition in the market. `
|
|
The Saab 9-3 is a car truely to enjoy. it is handsome yet utterly unique. It is very hard with powerful metal body and other safety features.
However, not as many features as other competitors in the market.
It looks like the older model, but a fresher version.
It is a very good car, i really can't wait for SAAB, under SPYKER's Assistance, to build a saab poster-causing supercar or a retro supermini.

This 9-5 belongs to a generation of Saab cars rolled out under GM ownership. Yep the generation that brought about the bankruptcy of Saab through unfortunate mismanagement. Strictly the current 9-3 is only a facelift of a more than 10 year old product line and it shows. Exterior styling is based on the Aero X concept which is distinctive and commendable but the interior...leaves much to be desired.
Competitors in the executive sedan category like the C class, 3 series or A4 offer a much more refined interior. In comparison, the Saab 9-3 recycles parts from the GM bin. Look at the interior of a chevrolet and you'll immediately see that parts have been reused. Not fine for the premium price tag.
Models without all wheel drive suffer from torque steer and while it is an acceptable highway cruiser, the 9-3 does not feel as pliant around corners as it's competitors.
Overall, this previous generation of Saabs can be written off. Hopefully under new ownership of Spyker, better models that retain the Saab DNA will be produced.

My mom's friend drive this Saab. Last week, I actually requested to drive the car and it feels so different from the Teana and Accord. The engine is amazing and rear compartment is very roomy. The boot space is also quite okay and FC is not very good.
