Volkswagen Tiguan now with 1.4 TSI engine

The engine downsizing trend sets to continue - this time round, with the Tiguan receiving the treatment. The compact SUV from Volkswagen has wooed fans with its sporty off-roader look. And now it gets better - with the 1.4 TSI powerplant, the Tiguan is the only SUV in its class to fall into the Category A COE. This, coupled with the lower road tax on the smaller engine, translates into substantial cost savings for its customers.
The twin charged engine produces 150bhp, and 240Nm of torque available from just 1,500rpm. Together with the 6-speed DSG gearbox, the Tiguan 1.4 TSI completes the century sprint in just 9.3 seconds. At the same time, the 1.4 TSI is just as efficient, with a combined consumption of 7.1L/100km, and emission of just 164g/km.
The DSG transmission on the Tiguan features a coasting function, disengaging the gears when the driver releases the gas pedal. The car also comes with an array of standard equipment, such as 6 airbags, fatigue detection, multi-function trip computer display, automatic headlamps and wipers. A set of 17-inch alloys complete the aesthetic lineup.
The Tiguan 1.4 TSI will be available from 1st December, retailing at $159,300 (incl. COE).
