The Volkswagen Vehicle Pre-Order (VPO) program is designed to allow consumers to be the first in line to reserve one of a limited quantity of certain Volkswagen cars, starting with the all-new 21st Century Beetle. Volkswagen created the user-friendly online reservation process utilizing the leading e-commerce platform from Amazon.
“With the introduction of Volkswagen’s Vehicle Pre-Order program, we are able to offer enthusiastic drivers an exclusive opportunity to connect with our vehicles,” said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “Through this seamless ordering system, customers will be one step closer towards owning and enjoying a special launch edition of the 2012 Beetle.”
The first car to be available through the program is the Volkswagen Beetle Black Turbo Edition, which is based on the all-new 2012 Beetle 2.0 TSI, and features a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that produces 200bhp and 280Nm of torque, mated to Volkswagen’s dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.
Only 600 examples of the Beetle Black Turbo Edition will be produced, and all of them will come with an exclusive black pearl paint with grey Turbo decals on the side. Other standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, beefed up brakes with red callipers, a “kaeferfach” additional glove-box that is similar to that of the original Beetle, sport cloth seating surfaces, fog-lights, and alloy pedals. Bluetooth technology, iPod connectivity, three-color ambient lighting and an RCD 310 sound system with eight speakers are also offered as standard.
