Alfa Romeo claims that the TCT transmission reduces fuel consumption and emissions, but without sacrificing performance. The Giulietta 1.4 MultiAir with TCT is able to go from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds, while the Giulietta 2.0 JTDM allows the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The smaller MiTo hatchback, meanwhile, receives an all-new 0.9-litre turbocharged TwinAir engine that was first seen in the Fiat 500, and won the "International Engine of the Year 2011" award. The two-cylinder powerplant produces 85bhp and between 110 to 145Nm of torque, depending on the mapping. Alfa Romeo says that the MultiAir technology and auto Stop-Start system allows for a 30% reduction in fuel consumption in the MiTo, but without a compromise in performance.
Other updates to the MiTo hatchback include a new “Nero Ametista” body colour along with new-design alloy wheels and a two-tone black dashboard and mesh seat trim. Additionally, Alfa Romeo will also soon offer a new 1.3-litre JTDM turbo diesel engine with 85bhp, variable turbocharger technology and Start-Stop as standard for the MiTo.
The Giulietta gains Alfa Romeo's new double-clutch TCT transmission, which will be offered on the 1.4-litre turbocharged MultiAir petrol engine and the 2.0-litre turbo diesel, both of which produces 170bhp.
