Two girls killed in fatal accident along Tampines Road

Two teenage girls, Ms. Michelle Phoe and Ms. Phoebe Lo, 18 and 19-years of age respectively, were killed in an accident yesterday morning after a white Toyota Corolla Altis they were travelling in crashed into a tree. Both the deceased were passengers in the back seat of the car and were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
20-year old Tang Zi Liang, the driver of the vehicle, was trapped in his seat and had to be set free by officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) using hydraulic tools. Police were called to the accident scene at about 6:20am.
Tang complained of chest pains and was conveyed to Changi General Hospital, along with an 18-year old girl, who was in the front seat. Both front occupants were conscious and had no visible injuries. Subsequently, Tang was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death under Section 66 of the Road Traffic Act. Investigations on the accident are ongoing.
