Toyota has rumoured to have put the brakes on the drop top version of the GT86 (locally known as Toyota 86).

When Toyota teased with a drop top version and showcased it in undisguised form through the digital media, we thought the car was green light for production. However recently, foreign publication What Car? has reported that the 86 Convertible will not make it to production, although reasons were not cited.
The Japanese carmaker, though, did say that further works are required to solve rigidity issues, and rumour has it that the reinforcements will heavily affect the 86's weight and hence dampen its agile handling.
