Polestar has confirmed plans to put the Polestar electric roadster concept into production. The car is expected to launch in 2026 as the Polestar 6 electric performance roadster. Interested customers in all active Polestar markets will be able to reserve a car online from 16 August 2022.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, cited the overwhelming customer and press response to the concept car, as the impetus to give the car the green light to be put into production. The electric roadster concept was revealed back in March 2022, showcasing the design, technology and sustainability ambitions laid out by the Polestar Precept.
Expect the electric hard top convertible to possess a bespoke bonded aluminium platform and be developed in house. The car will also feature the high performance, 800V electric architecture already confirmed for the Polestar 5.
The roadster will also be properly rapid, producing 872bhp and 900Nm from a dual motor powertrain with a targeted zero to 100km/h time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.
500 numbered units of a special 'LA Concept' version, are planned to be produced. These will exclusively feature the unique Sky blue exterior, light leather interior, and unique 21-inch wheels of the original concept. Polestar has estimated the price of the car to be around $800,000 to $1,000,000 when it reaches our shores. For more information and to reserve a build slot, head over to Polestar's website here.
