The Toyota Century can now be had as an SUV

Toyota has unveiled a new Century.
Taking the form of an SUV, this new Toyota Century stretches out a total of 5,205mm, placing in just short of the 5,207mm long Mercedes-Benz GLS, although it is still longer than the 5,185mm-long BMW X7, or the 5,125mm-long Bentley Bentayga (in its standard wheelbase).
The exterior of the Toyota Century, however, is more similar to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, with its boxy silhouette, stately front grille (housing the engraved phoenix emblem) and rectangular lights front and back.
This Toyota Century has been designed as a chauffeur-driven vehicle, and accordingly priority has been placed on the rear passengers. The car sports rear doors that open a wide 75-degree angle as well as a sweeping cabin floor for easy entry and exit from the rear seats. These are further complemented by retractable power steps and easy-to-grab C-pillar grips. The car also features dimming rear windows, as well as fully reclining rear seats and a panoramic sunroof.

And for the driver, the cabin of the Century sports a 12.3-inch TFT multi-information display alongside a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. The driver's seat is additionally upholstered in an anti-static material that Toyota states will reduce fatigue and raise general comfort.
Power for this Toyota Crown comes from a plug-in hybrid system that utilises a 3.5-litre V6 engine. This drivetrain will deliver a system total of 406bhp and will deliver an electric-only range of 69km (based on Japan's MLIT testing procedures).
To aid driving in tighter environments, the Toyota Century comes with rear-wheel steering, while a dedicated driving mode is also offered that will adjust the suspension setup at the rear axle, as well as the distribution of driving and braking force between the two axles to reduce the effect of sudden movements on rear passengers, further raising comfort levels.
