Roads to expand and make way for Changi Airport's new terminal

To integrate the operations of the existing airport and the new Terminal 5, work has already started on a new road to replace Changi Coast Road, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said, reported The Straits Times.
In anticipation of higher traffic in the future, work is also being done to expand Tanah Merah Coast Road, a spokesman said. He added that this will also ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction phase, when trucks and other heavy vehicles travel to and from the site.
The two road contracts - worth a total of about $81 million - were awarded in April and works are expected to be done by the middle of 2017.
"So far, the works have not led to any complaints from members," said Mr. Kok Min Yee, General Manager of Tanah Merah Country Club in the area. If traffic is affected, he said the club would "certainly take it up" with LTA.
