Revised line-up for Citroen's ever popular Xsara Picasso

Citroën has announced that it is streamlining its evergreen Xsara Picasso range. To be built around the Desire and VTX models, the revised Xsara Picasso range will continue to offer UK car buyers a great value entry into the compact MPV market.

With almost 250,000 models already sold in this country, the Xsara Picasso has been the UK's number one MPV for private buyers since its launch, a title it continues to hold to this day. Now sitting alongside its state-of-the-art stablemates - the brand new seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso and five-seat C4 Picasso - the Xsara Picasso offers the space and versatility of a compact MPV for the price of a mini-MPV, making it particularly appealing to customers looking at smaller cars such as the Vauxhall Meriva and Renault Modus.

Available from £9,995 the Xsara Picasso Desire models are packed full of equipment, just as customers have come to expect from Citroën models - air conditioning, four airbags, central locking, a CD Player and electric mirrors are all standard, while there are also two great value option packs. A £400 electric pack offers rear parking sensors, folding door mirrors and electric rear windows, while a £350 automatic pack upgrade provides automatic digital air conditioning as well as automatic wipers and headlamps.

VTX models feature the same standard equipment as the Desire while adding stylish

15" alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors, folding door mirrors and electric rear windows to the package. The automatic pack option is also available.

The VTX is specifically designed to appeal to company car drivers looking for a practical and well equipped car at an extremely competitive list price. With Recommended Retail Prices starting at just £11,390, the VTX range allows company car drivers and businesses to gain from low Benefit-in-Kind taxation and National Insurance Contribution charges.

With its distinctively curvy looks, the Xsara Picasso particularly appeals to buyers looking for a versatile, spacious and comfortable car. There are five full-size, reclining seats, of which the rear three can be easily and individually removed, whilst the driver benefits from an elevated seating position. The large interior space includes a 550 litre boot, a maximum load length of 2.35 metres and no less than 30 different storage areas.

Both VTX and Desire models are available with a 1.6HDi 92hp diesel engine or a 1.6i 16V petrol powerplant, while the Desire has the added option of a 1.6HDi 110hp diesel variant. These diesel engines provide low CO2 emissions (just 135g/km for the 92hp version), whilst providing outstanding fuel economy of up to 55.4mpg on the combined cycle. The 1.6HDi 110hp also benefits from an ultra-clean Diesel Particulate Filter System and an 'overboost' function, providing almost 10% extra torque under hard acceleration.
