Retired footballer Sergio Aguero to become race driver

Former professional footballer and Olympic champion Sergio Aguero will make a one-off appearance as a Formula E racing driver at the wheel of a Porsche 99X Electric. As the highlight of a Formula E content series called Evo sessions, numerous celebrities will be driving the current cars of the Formula E teams.

The former Argentine striker will receive intensive training from the Porsche e-sports works team and test himself in Porsche's state-of-the-art simulators. The highlight of this adventure is a special Formula E event, which takes place on 5 March 2025 to 6 March 2025, on a variant of the Grand Prix course in Miami.

Aguero will be under the guidance of Formula E world champion Pascal Wehrlein, as well as the Porsche e-sports works team

Under the guidance of world champion Pascal Wehrlein, who won the Formula E world title with Porsche in July 2024 and recently impressed with three pole positions in a row, Aguero will drive the new GEN3 Evo Porsche 99X Electric, the former's exact vehicle in the world championship.

Completing the century sprint in just under two seconds, the Porsche 99X Electric possesses one of the most efficient drive trains, with roughly half the energy required for a race generated by the car itself through brake energy recuperation. Furthermore, the car's clever software allows it to independently adjust its settings for every individual corner on a racetrack, with the result being maximum e-performance.
