Mercedes-Benz unveils the SLS AMG GT3 Race Car

The body of the car has been strongly reinforced and modified, with the front bumper getting a new large central intake and lower splitter, and other bodywork enhancements include canard air foils, hood, fenders with deep wheel well vents, huge side sills, a massive carbon rear wing integrated into the boot lid, fuel filler pocket in the quarter panels and rear bumper with a new diffuser.
The interior of the SLS AMG GT3 race car has been stripped out in order to save weight, and equipment such as the navigation system and air conditioning have been removed, to be replaced by carbon fibre bucket seats and a centre console with an LED display instrument cluster, racing steering wheel, fire suppression system and roll cage.
Mercedes-Benz has not revealed performance details of the SLS AMG GT3 race car, but says that it will have a significant power boost from the road car. The standard SLS AMG is able to produce 563bhp, and the GT3 version should be able to churn out around 592bhp.The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 will be officially launched in early 2011.
