Mercedes and IWC launch timepiece inspired by the G-Class

Mercedes-Benz and IWC have launched a new Big Pilot's Watch AMG G63 (catch the local unveiling of the timepiece here), inspired by the recently launched Mercedes-AMG G63 Grand Edition.

Mirroring the car, the timepiece gets a black and gold colour scheme, courtesy of a case and crown made from 18-carat Armour Gold. This Armour Gold is said to make use of a modified microstructure, which makes the case of the Big Pilot's Watch AMG G63 significantly harder and more wear resistant than conventional red gold.

This case is contrasted against a black dial that gets a relief-effect technical texture inspired by the front grilles and air intakes of Mercedes-AMG performance cars. The numerals and indices of the Big Pilot's Watch AMG G63 are also coated via a physical vapor deposition technique, and get a beige luminescent material, while the white rings of the sub-dials for the small seconds at nine o'clock and the power reserve at three o'clock mimic the head lights of the G-Class.

The Big Pilot's Watch AMG G63 is currently immediately through IWC boutiques, authorised retail partners, or via IWC's online store here. The timepiece can be registered for the My IWC care programme, benefitting from a six-year extension to the standard two-year International Limited Warranty provided by IWC Schaffhausen.
