Jaguar D-Types to battle at Goodwood Revival

One of the most iconic British sports cars - the Jaguar D-Type - will be celebrated at the forthcoming Goodwood Revival event with a special race for examples of the legendary machine from the 12^th to the 14^th of September. As many as 30 D-Types, invited from across the globe, will take part in the Lavant Cup, which will be held on the Saturday of the Revival.

Entrants would also include the 'long-nose' special alongside the D-Type's road-going variant, the XKSS, in addition to the experimental E2A, the one-off prototype that acted as the bridge between the D and the later E-Type.

The successor to the ultra-successful C-Type, the D-Type, made its competition debut in 1954 and went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1955, 1956 and 1957. D-Types have also raced with great success at the Goodwood Revival. Most recently, Gary Pearson triumphed in the 2006 Sussex Trophy and touring car legend Anthony Reid won the same race in 2013.
