Gogoro launches three electric scooters in Singapore

Gogoro electric scooters are now available in Singapore, following their debut earlier today at Cycle & Carriage's Electric Commercial Vehicle Hub in Ubi.
The three models introduced are the Viva Mix, Premium, and SuperSport. Prices (without COE and batteries) range from $6,000 to $9,000, and Gogoro says it will launch more models next year.
Founded in 2011, Gogoro was the first manufacturer to offer two-wheeler battery-swapping. The Taiwanese brand refers to its models as 'Smartscooters'.
The Viva Mix, Premium, and SuperSport are Class 2B machines. Class 2B licence holders can ride electric motorcycles or scooters with a power rating of up to 15kW or 20.1bhp.
The entry-level Viva Mix is the lightest and least-powerful model, with 8bhp and a range of 150km. The mid-range Premium model delivers 8.4bhp, while the SuperSport offers 9.7bhp. Both the SuperSport and Premium models have a claimed range of 170km.
Gogoro scooters do not require cables to recharge. Instead, a rider heads to a battery-swapping station, which Gogoro refers to as a 'GoStation'. There, the rider takes the two battery packs under the scooter's seat and places them into two empty slots at the GoStation. Two freshly charged packs will then pop out for the rider to put into the scooter, with the entire process taking mere seconds.
The GoStation charges the battery packs, and Gogoro says that there will always be four available slots, so riders will always be able to swap their depleted batteries for charged ones. The battery packs do not have to be plugged into the scooter - they must simply be placed with their handles facing up. There are currently three GoStations in operation, with another three set to come online at a later date.
The range-topping SuperSport model has standard features such as larger wheels and a more colourful screen
To prevent battery theft, the battery packs are automatically paired or coded to a specific scooter and will not work in a different machine. Gogoro says the battery packs that emerge from the GoStation are also paired to your scooter and won't work in another.
In 2023, Gogoro, in conjunction with the LTA, official agent Cycle & Carriage, and Foodpanda, did a sandbox trial with 20 Gogoro scooters over a period of eight months.
A variety of accessories are available for customers who wish to customise and/or enhance their scooter
The data gathered was used to help create the four monthly energy subscription packages (City Commute, City Conqueror, City Champion, and City Unlimited), with prices starting from $70 a month for 1,000 Ah. Gogoro claims that 1,000 Ah can cover up to 1,000km.
The aim of a monthly subscription for battery-swapping is to lower the upfront cost of acquiring the scooter, while the fixed energy costs may appeal to riders who'd rather not worry about fluctuating fuel prices.
