Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has announced the 25 names paired with 25 T.50s Niki Lauda chassis.
Each chassis has been themed chronologically, starting with the founder's first race win, 1974 South Africa at Kyalami and ending with 1995 France at La Sarthe. The release of these names comes after the global debut of the T.50s Niki Lauda prototype on 13 April at the U.K.'s Goodwood Motor Circuit.
The T.50s is set to have makes its first public outing as it headlines the 81st Goodwood Motor Circuit. There, over 15,000 track spectators will witness the race-spec car revving through its 12,100rpm redline. On top of witnessing the T.50s' first public outing, spectators will also hear the firm's GMA.2 V12 engine for the first time during the debut of the T.33 mule 'James'.
The Goodwood event celebrates Niki Lauda, a famed 1970s and 1980s Formula One Driver whose name is on every T.50s. This opens the door for GMA to explain the connection between the T.50s and the Brabham BT46B 'Fan Car' that Niki Lauda used during the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix victory.
Similar to the T.50s Niki Lauda, the T.33 is lightweight, weighing in at a mere 1,090kg. Fitted with a six-speed manual shift and a 608bhp 3.9-litre Cosworth GMA.2 V12 engine which revs up to 11,100rpm, the T.33 provides 'driving perfection' alongside a V12 soundtrack.
The T.33 mule is named James, following a tradition dating back to 1990. Gordon would name the Formula One mules with the theme of English kings, with the first being Albert. This tradition continues with 'Henry' coming soon.
