Ford reveals Maverick Lobo inspired by 1980s street trucks

Ford has revealed a new variant of its updated Maverick pickup.

Inspired by the lowered trucks that were popular from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s, this Ford Maverick Lobo a street-performance-oriented iteration of the pickup, complementing the off-road capability of Maverick Tremor and the efficiency of Maverick Hybrid.

The Ford Maverick Lobo sets itself apart from other Maverick variants by adopting a different front fascia alongside the use of 19-inch black rims

The Maverick Lobo accordingly gets tuned shocks and a suspension setup designed for on-road use, while its ride height has been dropped by 12mm at the front 28mm at the rear.

Further assisting affairs here is the application of torque vectoring thanks to the Maverick Lobo’s twin-clutch rear drive unit. Activated when the pickup is set into its track-only 'Lobo' drive mode, the technology is said to improve the vehicle's cornering performance, grip, and stability. These upgrades are finished off by the use of the same dual-piston front brake callipers as those found on the Ford Focus ST.

Power for the Ford Maverick Lobo comes from a 235bhp 2.0-litre engine that develops a peak torque of 373Nm.

On the exterior, the Lobo stands out from other iterations of the Ford Maverick thanks to its unique front fascia, painted rear bumper, and rocker moldings. The Lobo also comes with a black-painted roof and 19-inch black rims.

The Ford Maverick Lobo also comes with seats that feature Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, a graffiti-inspired overprint, and an embossed 'Lobo' name.

Deliveries of the Ford Maverick Lobo are set to begin in the U.S.A come early 2025.
