The new car, called the F10, was unveiled at a lavish launch event at the Prancing Horse’s legendary Maranello home, attended by Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo, new signing Fernando Alonso and reserve driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
The new car features a front end that looks similar to Red Bull’s car from last season. An attempt to test the car at Ferrari’s Fiorano test track by Felipe Massa was abandoned though due to the icy conditions in the afternoon.
The car will now be sent to Valencia for the start of official Formula One testing on Monday, after another attempt on Friday was similarly abandoned. Ferrari also confirmed that Giancarlo Fisichella will be the team’s third driver for the 2010 season. "It's better to stay here as the third driver," the 37-year-old Italian was quoted as saying.
