The first weekend of May 2025 saw the return of the biannual The Car Expo event, as automotive brands peddled their cars and wares, and promised exclusive, event-only prices and offers.
Kicking things off, we see the return of a brand synonymous with Malaysia: Proton. After a lengthy absence on our sunny (borderline scorching at this point) shores, the brand returns with its first-ever EV, the Proton e.MAS 7. Built by Geely, the new all-electric model can be pre-ordered now, and Proton has said that deliveries will commence by August 2025.
Proton is also offering a Founders Edition promotion for the first 99 cars sold. Among other things, the early-bird special contains a discount of $20,000, essentially meaning that for this period, the Cat B model can be bought for Cat A pricing.
Moving on, continental favourite Mercedes-Benz is offering savings of up to $50,000 on all models, and up to 30% off all Mercedes-Benz merchandise at its booth. Elsewhere, Aion and Hyptec, both under the GAC Group, are offering event-exclusive discounts of $3,000 and $10,000 respectively, with attractive aftersales packages. But there's more in the case of the former: It will be offering the Aion V with a discount of $12,000.
At Subaru's booth, deals include free five-year servicing (for a limited time only) for its Forester e-Boxer model, with an STI Package Edition also available. What's the difference, you might ask? To put it simply: Same car, different (racier) bodywork.
Another brand we see a lot on our roads is Nissan, and the Car Expo 2025 sees the soft launch of a body kit for the Kicks. According to the brand, this will cost an additional $3,000 and will be launched during the next COE tender. As for event-exclusive offers, what we've heard is that the first five buyers of the Nissan Ariya will receive $20,000 off, among others.
Head over to Audi's booth and you'll be met with savings galore. Eight models are offered with event-exclusive discounts of up to $108,000, including two of its most recent models here in Singapore: The A5 Sedan and the Q6 e-tron, offered at $265,999 and $319,999 respectively.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe also made its arrival in Singapore a few days ago, just in time for its public launch at The Car Expo 2025. Oh, and for those itching to get their hands on the newest local model, test drives are available for booking at the brand's showroom. Furthermore, BMW's booth also has a boutique carrying BMW Lifestyle merchandise and car-care products, with discounts of up to 70% for every $100 spent.
With that being said, we move on to another Eurokars-managed brand: MG. Don't look away now - only for this event, the MG 4 EV is being offered at just $149,888, inclusive of COE. Early-bird discounts are also available for the newly-launched MGS5 and not just that - the electric crossover also comes with 10 years of free servicing and 10 years of battery warranty (or 200,000km, whichever comes first). But why stop there? The MG Cyberster is also on offer with an event-exclusive price of $298,888, in case you wanted to let your hair down (and risk sunburn or hypothermia, given the recent finicky weather).
Let's jump to Chinese brands for a bit. Dongfeng has also said that a new model, the Vigo, is expected to launch in Singapore in September 2025 with an expected price range of $160,000. XPENG, on the other hand, will be offering its X9 and G6 with discounts of $10,000 and $12,000 respectively, as well as a free Nintendo Switch with every purchase so you don't have to shop for your kid's Christmas gift this year.
Over at BYD, the 2025 Atto 3 is also making an appearance after one of its first public displays last month, and now features ventilated car seats, different interior and exterior colours, and a BYD digital key. Additional event-exclusive offers include discounts of up to $10,000 on selected BYD models.
Staying on the well-walked (or talked, in this instance) of Chinese brands, JMEV - owned by the Renault Group - also made an appearance at The Car Expo 2025. With a new model, the JMEV Elight, on the books but not yet for sale, one can presume that the brand will be opening a showroom and launching it in due time. However, what we’ve been told is that the Elight's price range is estimated to be $166,888.
And so, we end things off with the newest launch on the block: The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq RS, which was officially launched just yesterday, and is on sale at The Car Expo 2025 with a price of $269,900. And that's not all; a host of event-exclusive discounts for its models (all limited units) include the lowest-priced model, the Kamiq, at $159,900. On the topic of exclusive deals, Skoda is also offering exclusive aftersales packages for its EV and ICE/mild hybrid models.
Budding car owner, or simply looking for a new ride? Why not take advantage of the plethora of deals on offer!
