Cupra starts production of new Formentor and Leon

Cupra has started production of the new Formentor and Cupra Leon at its Martorell plant in Spain.
Both vehicles have been thoroughly redesigned to appeal to a new generation of drivers, and now incorporate the firm's bold new design language. They are both also offered with a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain that offers more than 100km of all-electric range, alongside more conventional high-performance petrol-only engines.
First deliveries of the Cupra Formentor and Cupra Leon are set to start in the third quarter of 2024
The Cupra Formentor continues to be the brand's bestseller, and more than 347,000 examples of the car have been produced to date. The Cupra Leon, meanwhile, has seen more than 600,000 examples delivered worldwide since the launch of Cupra as a standalone brand in 2018.
Cupra states that its Martorell plant saw production grow by 21% to reach a total of 443,443 vehicles in 2023. The plant is set to play a key role in the Volkswagen Group's electrification plans, with production of the all-electric Cupra Raval set to start here by late 2025, and production of the new ID.2 (read more about the ID.2all concept here) also set to be located here. Seat is additionally scheduled to move production of the Seat Ibiza and Seat Arona to another assembly line in Martorell to prepare a new line for the production of electric cars at the factory.
