Chevrolet Cruze recalled in the U.S. for steering issues
10 May 2011|5,380 views

General Motors says that it wants to check that the steering shaft on the Cruze was properly installed, hence the mass recall. Additionally, Chevrolet will also check about 120,000 of the Cruzes for their automatic transmissions, to see if the transmission shift linkage was properly installed.
GM insists that very few of the cars are expected to have both problems, and that they are taking measures in their quality process to ensure that they do not occur on future production cars. GM reported that the automatic transmission problem was raised by customers when they brought their cars in for servicing under warranty, and that no accidents have resulted from both faults thus far.
The recall was triggered by a recent incident where a steering wheel was reported to have fallen off a Cruze, which led Chevrolet to inspect an initial 2,100 cars. The Detroit carmaker is now recalling 154,112 Cruzes sold in the U.S, or almost the entire production run since the car went on sale in North America in 2010.
