The Continental Flying Star will be a limited-run shooting brake model inspired by Bentley's Grand Tourer models, and is built by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, a coachbuilder that has worked with Alfa Romeo and has been around since 1926. Bentley will produce the Continental Flying Star in limited numbers, on a per order basis.
The Continental Flying Star is basically a standard Continental GT coupe but with its roofline stretched and its interior modified to offer more space. The final look is one of a coupe-estate, and is touted as a sports car with the extra space of a station wagon.
To create the Continental Flying Star, Bentley extended the roofline and fitted an electrically operated tailgate. Wider doors also result in more interior space, and the two rear seats can be folded down for more boot space. Overall, the Continental Flying Star measures 4.8 metres long, 1.9m wide and 1.4m high. A new structure that acts as a roll bar has been installed between the rear suspension domes to reinforce the bodywork.
The Continental Flying Star was based on the chassis of the Continental GTC performance coupe, and the 6.0-litre W12 engine has been retained, although now tuned to offer either 553bhp or 740bhp in output. Power is sent to all four wheels through the 6-speed automatic gearbox, and the 0-100km/h sprint comes up in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is quoted at 322km/h.
