Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent editions with new turbo engines

The new engines are the 1750 TBi petrol and 2.0-litre JTDM diesel units that were introduced in the 159 sedan last year, and Alfa Romeo has now added the powerplants to the Brera Coupe and Spider range, to go along with the new Italia Independent special edition.
The petrol unit is a new 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 200bhp and 320Nm of torque, and is able to propel the car from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds, and 7.8 seconds for the Spider. Top speed is rated at 235km/h.
The diesel poweplant meanwhile is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel that puts out 170bhp and 360Nm of torque, and can send the Brera Coupe from 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds, and 9 seconds for the Brera Spider. Top speed for the Brera 2.0 JTDM is 217km/h.
The new Italia Independent trim level meanwhile, which is available for all versions of the Brera, gets a unique matt black titanium finish, 18-inch black opaque 'turbine' design alloy wheels, red brake callipers and Alfa 8C inspired aluminium fuel cap. The interior also features a black leather bound steering wheel and gear knob with red stitching, carbon-fibre trim inserts, sports dials, black sports leather upholstered seats with Italia Independent branded headrests, aluminium sports pedals and foot rest, and a radio/satellite-navigation system with Blue&Me.
