If books and movies have taught us anything, it is that secret agents are cool and charismatic. They are highly adaptable, travelling around the world stopping evil and wooing attractive members of the opposite sex. They're also fit, intelligent, and are usually well-equipped for any occasion. Most of the time, they also have a pretty badass vehicle at their disposal.
But if you want them to run around saving the world from cackling super villains, they need to be happy. Hence, giving them a car they can love should be a top priority. With that in mind, Porsche Asia Pacific invited a few of us to become globetrotting high-class secret agents for a day.
Upon accepting the classified mission, we were whisked off to the mystical city of Siem Reap in Cambodia, the gateway to the ancient city of Angkor, to complete the assigned task in 72 hours.
With my team assembled on location, we navigated the rugged Cambodian landscape and completed various challenges to find the hidden treasure around the ruins of the legendary temples.
Assisting us on the assignment were Porsche's range of Cayenne and Macan Sport Utiity Vehicles (SUVs) and we think they are perfect secret agent cars. Here's why.

Secret agents are suave people and they are going to want a suave car. The distinctive Porsche styling definitely sets the Cayenne and Macan apart from other SUVs on the market and with their muscular and taut sheet metals, they remind agents of themselves - cool and charismatic.
We also have to expect that at some point, an agent would get involved in a high-speed chase so a car that is great to drive and one that can make a quick getaway would definitely be welcome traits.
In the Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Macan that we had with us, the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 and 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine respectively sent a very clear message across - quick getaways in them are a walk in the park. But they are not just fast, they are brilliant to handle too.
The adaptable suspension and responsive steering allow for total control and confidence on the road while their impressive off-road capabilities, from what we experienced off the beaten Cambodian track, prove that they are fit to conquer the toughest of terrains.
Practicality is also an important factor and again this is an area where the Cayenne and Macan can be relied upon. With a huge trunk for the gear and plenty of nifty storage compartments for other special gadgets, they are just what a well-equipped operative needs.
With the mission accomplished, we came to realise that these Porsche SUVs are actually rides that secret agents can depend on. After all, they are cool and charismatic, highly adaptable, fit and well-equipped (special gadgets and weapons not included).
