What a year it has been for cars, eh? With cars such as the new Audi R8 to the BMW M2, and the Lexus GS F to the new Porsche 718 Boxster, 2016 has seen a slew of exciting and invigorating cars reach our shores, to the delight of car nuts.
But 2016 also welcomed new generations of some of the most popular cars in Singapore - the new Honda Civic and the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class were launched to rapturous response. And with more and more manufacturers pushing out new models to meet the demands of multiple segments of customers, 2016 was a year of abundant choices.
As we move into a new year, we offer a sneak preview of the cars that you can expect to see this upcoming year.

2017 marks the highly anticipated launch of the brand new BMW 5 Series. The seventh generation model, codenamed G30, will come with a suite of technological improvements borrowed from the 7 Series. The 5 Series will also come with a new selection of powertrains - the 530i will use the 2.0-litre powerplant from the 330i, while the 540i sports a turbocharged in-line six powerplant.

Engines on offer include the latest PureTech three-cylinder engine in either 110bhp or 130bhp guise. Also look out for the DS 3 Performance, which packs a menacing THP engine uprated to 210bhp.

It is the world's first model to offer three powertrain options on a single platform - electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid. The first to arrive here will be the IONIQ Hybrid, equipped with a newly developed, dedicated 1.6 GDI four-cylinder Kappa engine and a 32kW (42.9bhp) electric motor.
