Peugeot e-2008 Electric GT 50 kWh (A) Video Review
06 Mar 2023  |  Peugeot Reviews
The Peugeot e-2008 may be very boldly designed, but drive it and you'll find it is actually a quiet and comfortable car with decent space for the family.

This new Peugeot e-2008 is an excellent electric car that comes with a Cat-A COE. The car is compact and its styling is very appealing and pleasing to the eyes. The ambient lights enhance the interior further.

The seats are extremely comfortable and the ride is smooth and quiet. Insulation from exterior noise is impeccable. Driving the car is effortless and easy and the car is easy to manoeuvre around.

What I like
The grille will follow the colour of the exterior colour of the car. This little detail makes the car very unique! There is no exhaust piping and the car looks very sleek.

The car's exterior design is gorgeous and appealing and it stands out from the other brands. That makes the Peugeot very unique.

Inside, there is a futuristic 3D instrument cluster, and the button layout makes it more interesting. Despite its price, the inside looks very posh and expensive.

There's enough power in this 2008. You get that electric car surge off the line, yes, but don't expect that kind of effortlessness once you're up to motorway speed.

Still, ride quality is good. It's certainly firmer than the larger Peugeots in here. Steering is direct and precise enough. Overall, the car gives you the height and mass of a larger car without the dull controls that come with a larger body. Very nice.

What I do not like
The car lacks electric seats but adjusting the seats manually is quite effortlessly.

This is Peugeot's first all-electric car here, and its quite the stunner. But if you're coming from some of its other petrol-powered cars, be prepared for something rather different.

What I like
Step inside and the first thing that strikes you is the wild layout of the dashboard. It's certainly... inspired. Turn the car on and there's a 3D instrument cluster looking at you, which looks clever, but really is just two screens layered on top of each other.

50kWh battery and 128bhp is also fair for the course. It's zippy, but the steam will noticeably run down at highway speed. And there's decent energy economy, though this is a small crossover so really nothing special to write about.

What I do not like
It's still a small car after all. You will notice that beyond the layers of customisation in the instrument cluster there's not much else it can do. Ditto for the infotainment display.

There's stingy space in the back, and it doesn't look special enough to set itself apart from the petrol 2008, which also comes in GT spec.

And you'll miss that soft comfort that comes with the 3008 and 5008.

If you're looking to go electric is something a little more eclectic, this Peugeot e-2008 will be right up your alley. There's bold, extraverted styling outside, and certainly a unique interior within, all coupled with a thoroughly usable drivetrain.

What I like
For its price and specifications, there's actually quite a big battery under this Peugeot. 50kWh means you'll probably only need to visit the chargers twice a week. And it also makes the 2008 quite the zippy thing to drive. You pull off the line quietly and effortlessly, and power stays strong even up to 90km/h. And even here, the ride is always quiet as well. So it has all the bases you need for city and highway driving covered.

Ride here is generally soft, although you can feel that it perhaps could be better if it didn't have to rein in the weight of its batteries. You get a toch of back and forth after cresting humps and the like. Nothing unreasonable for a tall-riding crossover with a small wheelbase.

Space at the back is just ok. This is a small car after all, but sit in the front and you still get that elevated driving position so it swells around you a little.

What I do not like
There's really nothing you can complain about in this car. Ok, there's no electric seats, but there's a cool looking 3D instrument cluster, and the dashboard design is also quite interesting. If you're looking for something different its still an overall good deal.

This new Peugeot e-2008 is the first electric car here from the brand. It's offers compact dimensions, very different styling inside and out, and comes with a Cat A-friendly electric motor. All that should appeal to many here.

What I like
Be careful with which colour you pick for this Peugeot: Unlike the petrol 2008, the grille here also features little sections that are finished in the exterior colour. Other than this, you'll get a shapely lion badge at the front, and a different trim at the rear since there's no exhaust pipes.

Overall the car's exterior design may not be immediately appealing, but it can grow on you. And you're buying a Peugeot cause you want something different yes? So there you go.

Inside, the wild design continues, although I quite like how things have been done here. There's a 3D instrument cluster, and the button layout will become familiar after just a few days with the car, even if it can look wildly different to anything else.

Very nice.

What I do not like
Just pick a mild colour for this thing and you're gonna be ok.

An EV that you need to try prior any purchase. Based on the current market price range, its a definite competitive vehicle. In terms of practicality, performance, price, and comfort.. I find it an edge across this car segment.
