Own one to understand one. `
The Alfa Romeo does have a class of its own and stands out in the car park among the rest of the continental players such as the British, Germans and French, not forgetting the Swedish. The exterior style of the car itself deserves a second glance, while the interior has its own style of portray. As for the engine, it still has the “Alfa Roar” when being revved. The reliability of the engine is a thumb up; it goes on for long journeys with a sense of ease in mind. The stock handling is a “Pretty Good” issue, cornering of the car still feels agile and stable behind the wheel. The car is a comfortable ride in an overall view, but the down fall is the depreciation, battery life span and the glove box compartment.

Italian lunacy `
You cant be a true petrol head if you never owned an alfa. The 147 is a great looking hatchback. The best looking hatch probably. The sound, looks, interior, is wonderful. Its a great place to be in, even though you are sitting in it at the side of the road because it broke down, its still great. This has that special X factor people look for in the car. If you are the kind of person who puts aesthetics before practicality, this is the car for you. And one more thing, it depreciate as fast as it accelerate.

Alfa's 147 hatchback has appealing Italian styling, advanced engines, fine handling and competitive pricing against premium offerings from Audi and BMW. What Alfa lacks is a reputation for longevity, and re-sale values tend to worry buyers.
