Service and price review on tires n battery  Posted on 30-Nov-2021
Yew Lee does more than battery, they do tires too. The tires they carry, MICHELIN, CONTINENTAL, BRIDGESTONE, YOKOHAMA and FALKEN. Give them a message or call to tell them your car model, and wheel size. I saved 60 bucks, and they polished my tires, I changed all 4 with good tires. As them why some tires are so cheap, they will explain to you. If you need to align, balanced and centre steering, they will give you good price for the job too. As for battery, don't but the cheapest battery,... (AHEM... THE GREEN COLOUR ONE) you should ask why must buy the sightly better battery. 1) it last twice as long and 2) it's more expensive if you get stranded. Tow car is at least 90 bucks. You might as well pay 50 bucks more for a better battery that last twice as long.

Highly recommended to anybody with alternator problem  Posted on 22-Nov-2021

Recently I encountered some high pitch whinning noise during acceleration, from my Altis. I sent my Altis to my regular workshop at the petrol station for an initial assessment. Was told need to replace my Alternator, as it is the causing the whinning noise, and was suggested to either get a re-conditioned Alternator or a new one at close to S$1000. Subsequently I google for a workshop with Alternator repair experience and Yew Lee Battery Company was listed, and I went into their website to take a look, seems like this is no generalist who just service your car, or who merely swop in / out an alternator, but do have 40 years in this business of servicing alternator. The night before as I parked my car, the engine just went dead, with all the dasboard battery indicator flash out, unable to re-start again. The following morning, I gave Yew Lee Battery a call, and the nice "lady boss", suggest you can try to restart and turn off the air con and light. Surprisingly I manage to re-start the car after taking her suggestion, and manage to drive about 30 km to reach this workshop. Before driving there, I did get a rough estimate of the cost and she mentioned in the range of hundred plus if the alternator is not badly damaged I was greeted by a very nice elderly lady, and she immediately ask her most experienced engineer - Raymond Ang (with 40 years experience) to attend to me. He immediately evaluated my car and nail it down to the Rectifier problem. I was impressed by the workshop as it has all the necessary tools to help to diagnose the Alternator, he remove alternator from the car, and spend some "tinkering" and soldering after removing some of the parts from the alternator. He pointed out the problem to me, some contact point broke off on the rectifier. He then test the alternator on the work bench by looping a belt over it (this is what I meant they are really a specialist when come to alternator repair, with the right equipment in place). Incidentally they also carried a good range of tyres in which I managed to talk to Jordan, who speaks English well (unlike most workshop which you converse in dialect or mandarin). He show me the range of tyres and explain in details of the coding on the tyre, which for the first time, I really understand it, after having driving for 20 over years. The price is surprising decent such as for Yokohama and Bridgestone, and for higher tier - Michellin which is though higher in price but I believe is still reasonable. I learnt later that Jordan used to run another business, and he applied the same good principle of good customer service and likewise he applied it here. Incidentally he is the son of that nice lady. All in all I have a great experience with the expertise, and the cordial and great customer service and the price is reasonable as they strive to carry on the long tradition of this 40 years old business which the father has left for them. Highly recommended to anybody with alternator problem to give them a call. For all you know your alternator still has a good lease of life, all it needs is a good expertise to bring it back to life without incurring a high cost. And tyres too :) and off course all the nice food around this bukit merah area as Jordan shared with me, to make your trip worth the while. Have been using this shop since my first car to change tyres and batteries. Honest boss who will tell you not to change the tyres if he feels that it’s still road worthy. How many shops will tell you this? - Stanley, Owner of BMW X3 SMM21--P

I have gone back to Yew Lee several times. It specialises in tyres and batteries. I can't remember how many sets of tyres I had them replaced at Yew Lee over the years, not just patching holes in tyres.
Its staffs know their stuffs, are efficient and polite. I had seen ang mohs patronised the shop (probably from nearby The Interlace condo). I am surprised no motorist has submitted a review on this motor shop. Let me be the first then.
