Poor follow up with regards to my Accident case  Posted on 19-Jun-2023

Had proceeded to Ah Lim motor to report my accident the day after. The report process was fine. Filled up the paperwork and submitted the video recordings. After which was told that I would receive a call on Monday to inform me when i could bring my car down for repairs.

No calls came. Waited till Wednesday and dropped a message asking for an update. Was told that the surveyor had done a survey and was told that they would check for a slot to send my car.

No calls came. Waited till Friday, and decided to call in again. Told them that since i was claiming 3rd party, I would now like to seek my own workshop. On top of that, the email was typed wrongly even though the email was correctly confirmed in writing, causing the accident report to not reach my email. The claims agent was also unable to obtain the other party's accident report because of my incorrect email.

Made another call to rectify the email on the 17th, and another call on 19th to rectify the email address, and finally it was done.

Excellent service and support  Posted on 17-Jan-2023
Great assistance to my car accident reporting. Especially Mr Gerald explain to me and provide me with the guidance. Finally I make the decision to respray my car rather wait for insurance company to response. The spray work is superb….

Gerald whom help did my accident report was very professional and detailed. He constantly updated me on the accident claimed and provided me with great service in getting a replacement car while my car was in the workshop getting repair. Car was repaired and workmanship with respray was very well done. Will definitely go to them again for any future body repair work on my car. Great Job!

Thank you

I am insured with AXA and this is their approved workshop. All the paperwork and photos are taken by them.

They also get the AVIVA surveyor down in the next few days.

I got a small hit from the back in my bumper. All is repaired by the next week. Looks good to me. Thank you!

I had a few knocks/dent to my rear door that requires knocking back and re-spraying/painting. Chatted with both Simon/Mui Hong.
Sent in the morning and it was ready the following afternoon back to new condition *(cant see that it was ever dented/scratched) and the price was very reasonable.

My First Visit With No Regrets  Posted on 11-Aug-2016

Had an accident on 16 July 2016 morning. My car crashed into the back oa a lorry which braked suddenly. Relieved that there was no injury caused. But sadly, my MINI is "Disfigured" Quite badly. Called up the insurance company and was advised to send my car to the Authorised workshop to do the repair and claiming of my car insurance.

Ah Lim Motor Company was the nearest Authorised workshop to my residence. Left my car there and was being briefed of all the processes and forms to be filled. All was done in a precise and patience manner. Credit to their admin staff Ms Mui Hong.

Went home after that and I did a check on their review on sgCarMart website. To my horror, all reviews were negative! Was so worried and wonder will I be the next victim !

Fortunately enough, Mui Hong has updated me periodically on the work status done for my car. And she assured me of her mechanics capability in doing a good job for my car. I managed to get back my car on the 06 Aug 2016 which was exactly 3 weeks as promised by them. However, there are still two parts yet to be done as these parts will need another 2 weeks to be delivered to them. Is just those plastic bracket holder.

Overall I'm satisfied & Happy with Ah Lim Motor. The good customer service by Mui Hong is definitely deserved the praise and a pat on the back.

Long wait for repair to be completed  Posted on 20-Apr-2016

This is one of the authorized repair workshop for Aviva Insurance. Happens to be involved in a chain accident 2 days before Christmas in year 2015. Called up Aviva and was advised to drove the to Ah Lim Motor as it is nearer to my residence. Left the car there and got the car back after 3 weeks, which I could understand the longer repair period as in between there were Christmas and New Year's day. Since the car will be there for repair, requested them to spray my side mirrors to get rid of some minor scratches (not due to the accident) and I would pay for the re-spray job.

However, they informed that the reverse sensor was not changed due to parts not available and would arrange another day for me to bring the car back when the parts arrived. Did a quick check on the car and realized that both the side mirrors were not re-spray but instead they were polish. Pointed out to them that the spray job wasn't done at all and I was billed for it. They quickly apologized and assure me that the next time I brought the car back to install the reverse sensor, they would get the paint job done again.

They did not called me back on the arrival of the parts as promised, after waiting for more than 3 weeks after getting the car back, I called and enquired their office. They check and mentioned the part had just arrived and I could go down after Chinese New Year as most of their mechanics had left for home in Malaysia. No choice, have to make an appointment and go back after 9th day of CNY.

Took a day off since they said the re-spray job and fixing the reverse sensor would took one full day. Happily went back to collect the car and thought finally, the repairs are over. Imagine my great disappointment when they said I have to go back again as they had lost one of the screws for the sensor, as such they could not fixed it back for me. Only consolation is that the side mirrors are properly re-spray this time. The office again promised that they would call me once they have got the screw and they would arrange a replacement car for me on the day I bring my car back.

No calls and no update from the workshop, thus called them again near end March and was told the part has not arrived. Requested them to expedite and update me.

Again no calls and update, so tried my luck and called them 2nd week of April. They said would check and called me back. Finally was told the part has just arrived, rather skeptical about it, so coincidence? If I don't called would they have check? Since the replacement part is here, I did not probe further, just wish to get the whole repair done and over.

Brought the car down in the morning and was told they need to inform the surveyor to check the car and could only get the car back in the afternoon. No replacement car as promised, did not kick a fuss over it. Received a call back from the workshop at 2pm and finally the car is ready.

Checked the car and realized that the rear bumper alignment is out and there was a huge gap when the boot is opened, inform the mechanic who installed the reverse sensor. He explained to me, the bumper is only secure by clips and I could just push hard on the bumper to align it back. He then gave a hard push to the bumper and indeed the bumper aligns back in place. Since it looks ok, I did not think anything about it and left.

The next day morning, when I load my work bag into the boot, the bumper has mis-aligned again. So I just push hard and the bumper went back in again. But this time, one of the reverse sensor drop into the bumper, leaving the hole where the sensor should be. I checked on the remaining three rear sensors and one of it just drop into the bumper when I gently push it.

Enough is enough, I brought the car to my regular workshop and they help me took out the whole rear bumper, and imagine my horror when they show me that the whole bumper was not installed properly, and the reverse sensor clips are not clip properly. That explains how the 2 reverse sensors drop into the bumper. Spent some money and I finally got everything properly installed back.

Conclusion, repair works took a very long time. No updates on the arrival of parts, have to call and check personally. Don't bother to wait for their calls. Wasted my days to go back a few times, and repairs are either not done or not done properly.

Unpleasant experience at this place  Posted on 29-Jan-2016

This is an authorised workshop for quite a few insurance companies and I guess that should be the main reason why they have a lot of business because if they were to rely on their customer service, they would have closed down! Went to this place to report an accident (was rear-ended) and decided to also let them repair the damage. Should have been alerted when I was "Advised" By one of the aunties to pay first as I do not have sure-fire proof that I was not at fault. I was adamant not to as I have front video footage to prove that I did not reverse to hit the car behind. They then made me wait for 3 weeks and I have to email them for updates about my case and when they finally gave me confirmation I can repair my car and claim from the other party, they wanted me to wait till after CNY to repair! I was super pissed and gave them a piece of my mind and they then "Allowed" Me to go in for repairs before CNY! Super mad with their attitude and the only redeeming factor was their manager finally called me to explain but to me it was too late. I have no more confidence in them and they really gave me the impression that they put the insurance companies' interests ahead of us consumers. Their workmanship may be good but I will never know because I will never patronise this workshop. I then went to another workshop and got the car repaired within 5 days, with a free grooming thrown in!

Went to this workshop to do my car cause was towed there at first instance.
Firstly, the next owner had consented to do own claims with report done. The office girl from this workshop call me to say he wanna claim against me, I told her we had report say no, she say "bo pah keh". I reply her WHAT ! report write down no count ? She keep quiet.

Then went there, havent dismantle only say my repair cost is S$Xxxx amount so I say no way as its estimated with no proper quotation or documents, then say if self claim is S$Xxxx and claim insurance they will report more. WHAT again ! No matter what, it will affect my next year premium, so no way man.

Then I got another workshop n arranged tow there instead as this place is simply not trustworthy. Scared they dun do good job and make u come back over n over again after that plus they are unprofessional in the claiming part too.

Be Warned of this place.

Very bad experience with them. Sent in my veh for repair after accident as they re the nearest authorised workshop. Till now had been 2 weeks and yet to get my car bk and could not give me a date. My calls down will get directed everywhere and no one seems to know what is the Status of my car. Always say that they will call me back but never happen. Avoid at all cost. I will NEVER go back to them again.

Experience with Ah Lim  Posted on 01-Dec-2011

I had an accident and repairs done at Ah Lim Motors. Workmanship is ok... but they fail to advise on important issues like paint will "change colour" after 6 months. I do not fault them entirely, as my other areas are protected with paint protection (I shall not advertise here... unless they pay me. Lol!). However, they are not forthcoming in telling me. I could have top up and respray the entire car. Similarly, they replaced the damaged headlight with a new one, but did not advice on the old one. Hence, it is very obvious that my car had been in accident although it is just a minor bump on the front right side. Had problems selling my car as people tend to think it had went thro a major accident. They also included in the repairs a new front bumper, which I know it's the old (the OEM rubber tubing was still missing after their technician peel it off the day we were taking "pictures"). I suspected they "knock" it back in place and cover it with a layer of putty and polish it smooth. A few days later, my bumper was crooked and Ah Lim said my underspoiler too heavy? I had it on for 5 yrs and now suddenly "too heavy"? Anyway, they claim the clip had broken by its own... and refused to replace with a new bumper. Instead, they said they'll settle and drove it "behind". I purposely disappeared for a short while and visited at the other end. Saw them pumping glue inside. They charge the other party $9000+ (for a minor bump) but I don't think they did so much to my car. Even the rims were refurbished (where did they get my customized decals??).
