I own the 2022 Touareg R-Line, coming from a 2017 Tiguan R-line and the experience couldn't be more different. The Touareg does feel like a cheaper, but no less capable, Audi Q8, since they both share the same platform, engine, and excellent ZF 8-speed transmission. Volkswagen has done its part to fit out its flagship with I guess, the best parts and materials in its line-up, and I do have to say the quality of finish is more Audi-like than Volkswagen.

The equipment list has almost everything you could ask for, and the digital dash and infotainment is much improved over from the Tiguan, which has a similar system. The driving experience is that of a tall, large and wide SUV, with a commanding view of the road. The engine has a slight delay, but then builds up smoothly once it gets going. Pick up is smooth and fast, thanks to the ZF auto trans. The air suspension is very comfortable, and excellent over long distances.

So far, my Touareg has been trouble-free and solid, just like my Tiguan. I expect many years of reliable performance from this luxury barge

What I like
- Smooth ZF automatic transmission
- Comfortable Air suspension
- 4-wheel steering is very good in tight spaces and on highways
- Spacious and comfortable interior
- Ventilated front seats with massage

What I do not like
- Apple Carplay not full screen
- Slight delay in engine response

Unfortunately I have the displeasure of owning this car in the r line model. I've never owned a car that has spent more time in the workshop then on the road. It's like VW took parts from all the brands they own and cobbled together and SUV but forgot they don't actually work together.

Mine is only a year old but I have already had the transmission changed. Start stop motor changed. Radiator changed. Battery changed. What else??

Don't expect VW Singapore to know what's wrong given that hardly anyone bought it, so they don't have any experience on the car.

When it does work the ride is rough. Transmission can't decide which gear it wants. When you accelerate make sure you have at least 50m in front of you otherwise you will hit someone. Be prepared to have every warning sound bug you as you drive along. So don't bother turning on the radio. And if you use the stop start function make sure you have a neck brace.

Don't consider. And for the price VW is laughing at you. Move on and look at a Lexus.
