I bought the Golf 1.4 TSI Sports with all the features I would ever want. I never expect the extra I paid could buy so many added features as compared to the base model 1.4 TSI. It is a very sporty and nifty car. The car is easy to park in even some of our small car park lots.
I am also enjoying the very economical fuel consumption, still experimenting with the mileage. Performance wise, I have to watch out on the speedometer. The car is fast and before you realize it , it crosses the limit I set - 120km/hr. Still waiting for the time to bring it to North/South Highway. Just clock only 450 km. so far.

What I like
Sun roof (extra tinted with V-Kool) otherwise hot on a sunny day. Engine cut-off when waiting for traffic light to change. It is definitely very economical to drive.
Keyless entry is something new to me, but keep worry that car is not locked when walking away.

The internal system is like a computer and require some time to learn. Sat Nav system is good and still exploring. Loaded many of my favorite song on SD card and kept my CDs at home to save some space.

Front Xenon lights, turning lights are most advance. Tail lights are very sporty and very well designed, very satisfied. Like the boot space, should carry my Golf bag with ease.

What I do not like
In normal mode, the engine on-off has to take some getting used to. On hot day I have to deactivate this feature for the air-conditioning to be working continuously. Not sure if the engine would give trouble later with the on-off mode. Reliability is a question mark in my mind, wait and see.

Transmission tunnel at the back row really take up a lot of space from a compact car like Golf. Back row passenger can get really uncomfortable for long distance traveling.

After afew test drive on the new Golf Mk7. pretty much love the preformace suspension. & at the forst sight fall in love with the U shape day light which only available for the addtiional top up of 3 thousand. Engine is strong with turbo charger on almost all model of VW model. interior main color is grey compare to Rocco (black) which are much lesser aggressive interior. The new upgrade on the hand brake which are button base. As for hill control, Skyroof, U shape day light & 17" rim have to pay additional price. Just for the basic model u gonna get, the outlook are pretty much dull and boring.

What I like
Handling
FC
The user interface which u can control the suspension & the mode u driving just like the old GTR

What I do not like
No over trade
Gearbox
too pricey
"Jerking mode" during the traffic light due to the shut off for valve
to remove the mode the only way is to tune to sports.

I have owned this car for a bit more than 3 months. and with slightly more than 5000km on the odo.

I read rave reviews about this car, everywhere. Carbuyer, Caradvice, What Car?, Top Gear, and etc. Most car magazine says that this is the best car in the world. Heck, they have awards as proof.

So without real real-world research. I went ahead and bought it.

The good news ends, after just 1 hour into driving my car.

I would say that i am a decent driver. No, crazy revving. Easy going and smooth.

This car is extremely jerky when the traffic is heavy.
also, theres some metal clanking sound when it is in automatic mode. Mine is with the 7 speed DSG.

What I like
- the seats are comfortable
- the user interface is pretty good

What I do not like
- the gearbox (visited the SC 6 times!! and now, it is worser)
1st: SC said it is firmware
2nd: then said it is normal
3rd: maybe mechatronic issue
4th: then said it is normal
5th: flushing of lubricant required
6th: new gearbox required

all these remarks in 3 months?????

and I am not even a fast driver or some that will trash the gearbox!!

VW I will never ever buy your car again! no idea how they won all the awards...

The Golf, does set new standards, for the rest of the cars, be it my old Swift or even some of the newer cars.

However, it comes with caveats, so if you dunt mind living with these caveats, it's a superb hatch to own.

What I like
(a) Interior quality:

Everything is well made, from the leather to the plastics, to the seat holder etc., to the point that it can rival some of the premium brands.

You have to seat it, to believe it.

(b) Power:

It's not just the 140 BHp, but the fact that the power is accessible at all revs, plus is very smooth delivery - heck, you wouldn't know the car is going@120, cuz' the ride is very creamy, like butter, until you see the speedo.

(c) NVH:

Compared to my old Swift, the new Golf puts it to shame - although not as quiet as it claims, it is very peaceful

What I do not like
(a) DSG:

The (in)famous DSG transmission although assured by the VW SEs, to me still feels like a ticking timebomb

(b) Start-Stop:

It is very jerky, meaning that when the engine restarts & pulling out into the traffic, the jerkiness is very odd thing compared to a car of this calibre.

(c) Sales Service:

'Nuff said. VW (S) need to open up more service centers to cater for their customers, else well, most of us are not too keen to wait that long for our servicing.

(This is all based on personal preferences; some parts may be subjective)

Been driving the Base model for a few days now, explored all the features, and got pretty used to the car quickly. I have listed some Pros and Cons for the car below.

Bought the Golf MK VII for work. Feels sporty and drives comfortable. Most of all, it now has a rather 'Premium' feel, as compared to the previous MK VI.

A very practical car, well thought of by Volkswagon. I feel almost as if the Engineers at Wolfsburg understands my wants and needs.

Definately worth a look, and test drive, who knows, you might get hooked just like me.

Overall, not exactly a piece you'd show-off to your friends and family for the prestige, but for making a 'WISE' choice. I'm satisfied with the car.

Only regret is not going for the higher-spec Golf sport, as the features are pretty worth the price difference.

Bought mine from Volkswagon centre Singapore(Alexandra), I was represented by Wilson(92382793), who had excellent service attitude.

What I like
1.4 TSI (122bhp)

- Exterior looks rather well-balanced (more than the MK6)
- 'Tungsten Silver' is usually perceived as a boring colour, but actually feels pretty good.
- Sexy rear (try w/e yellow rear plate; and of course white front)
- Goes well with 'legal' window tint. Could try "Stealth Knight Works", they've got pretty good packages, and 8yrs warranty.
- Fuel economy - approx 17-18 KM/L mixed drive-mode.
- Moves off pretty quickly at traffic junctions.
- Nimble around town, stable on expressways.
- Very quiet.
- Awesome stock speakers. Sound quality is one of the finest i've heard.
- SD Card reads up to 32GB, and can handle up to (5 subfolders), which allows you to do rather neat song archiving. Get the Class 10 ones for about $25 at anywhere, read speeds would very fast; makes song updating very convenient.
- Almost all compartments, features and gadgets are located at the most thoughtful places; very practical.
- Interior feels very refined, esp the trimmings and drivers' dashboard, etc.
- 1.5L Nalgene Bottle would fit neatly in the front door (side compartment); good for those who drink alot of fluid on the go.
- Overall, this car is very practical for daily use.
- Higher resale value, as compared to most cars in its category.

What I do not like
- Rear, Hatch-door could lock your Key in, if you use the "Hatch" only function, which auto locks the car when you shut the hatch-door. (So you will have to keep your keys with you at all time; some people tend to leave their keys in the boot space, and forget; closing the hatch-door after wards, and end up getting lock out of the car). As most people do not carry their spare keys, it would be a pain in the neck to remedy the situation.> You might have to "CarJack" your own car if both keys are locked in. [This if for the Base Model, without the Keyless function; The higher spec Golf-Sport should not have this problem].

- Hope the 7-Speed DSG gearbox does not fail like the MK6. (fingers Cross)

- No Sunroof / Bluetooth / Sat Nav. (Only on the higher spec - Golf Sport)

Got my new Golf Sport for a week now. There is ample room in the cabin and a large enough boot. It can seat 5 adults although the floor hump makes it a bit uncomfortable for the one sitting in the middle. The driver's seat has multiple adjustment so you can customise it for a perfect fit. While the new Golf may look rather docile, but stepping on the accelerator will bring out the beast in it. Overall the car is a joy to drive.

What I like
It's a very well built car. Solid feel compared to Japanese cars. Good acceleration and handling. It's really nimble and sticks to the road. The bi-zenon headlamps with cornering light really light up the road. The 8inch multimedia system sounds great even without a subwoofer. Use of SD cards makes it easy to update song lists.

What I do not like
The hump in the back floor board makes it uncomfortable for the one sitting in the middle.

This car can be summed up in a few words, "It is the only car you will ever need.". Having said that, the all new Golf Mk 7 is really the only car you'll ever need. Its bigger, lighter, safer and many more, but is it the car you'll ever want? At first glance the all new Golf looks handsome. Bolder and Sharper than the Mk 6. As usual the handling is great and the seats have won awards for being "back friendly".

What I like
Handling, Superb interior quality that may shame upper market cars, Colour touchscreen comes as standard, bluetooth connectivity, good rear leg and head room, very safe with its City automatic braking system, very very comfortable and quiet with superb sound insulation, suspension setting is perfect, engines are very efficient, good visibility, very practical, giant door pockets, large boot. Everything about it in fact!

What I do not like
Not as fun to drive as a Ford Focus and not as head turning as the Alfa Romeo Giuletta. The price is the only bad thing that what most people cannot swallow. Again, I am to refrain from stating the price of this car but I can't. For starters, its price range is almost the same as more desirable brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, for a lack of a better example, the 116i and the B200 Chrome respectively. With that kind of price, you don't even get power seats in the Golf and the least amount of features compared to the other 2! Volkswagen is called "The People's Car" for a reason, even thought COE prices are high, the car should not be anywhere close to the prices of upper market cars. Furthermore the Golf is Mercedes-Benz A-Class category. Although the OMV is higher than its other 2 upper market competitors, its no reason to be priced similarly as the OMV simply does not matter. What are the chances that the first owner will live with it for the next 10 years? Dreams of owning an iconic car is crushed.
