Consumer electronics firm Xiaomi has released the initial details of its new all-electric car. Called the SU7 and positioned as a 'full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan', the car is said to be the cumulation of a total of 13 years technological accumulation done by Xiaomi.
Three electric motors were showcased alongside the reveal of the Xiaomi SU7. The most powerful of these, called the 'HyperEngine V8s', is said to offer a total power output of 570bhp and peak torque of 635Nm. This electric motor is said to utilise a dual-cycle oil circuit for its stator and a patented S-shaped oil circuit for its rotor section for effective cooling.
The HyperEngine V8s is said to be currently in development, although Xiaomi states that it is scheduled to begin mass-production of the motor and implementation of it within its own electric vehicles come 2025. The firm states that its Xiaomi SU7 Max, equipped with this motor, will be able to complete the century sprint in 2.78 seconds, while allowing it to reach a top speed of 265km/h.
The two other electric motors, named the 'HyperEngine V6s' and 'HyperEngine V6', will offer total outputs of up to 369bhp and 295bhp respectively.
Xiaomi has also revealed a new, in-house developed battery. Said to utilise Inverted Cell Technology, the battery can offer a total capacity of up to 150kWh, which Xiaomi states, will allow its cars to reach a CLTC range exceeding 1,200km. This battery is said to feature a dual-side water cooling solution that implements heat dissipation plates on both long sides of the battery cells that allows it to achieve a cooling rate that is claimed to be four times the industry average.
Set to feature in the SU7 is the Xiaomi Smart Cabin, which comes complete with a 16.1-inch centre console, a 7.2-inch driver's display, as well as two mounts for tablet devices to be used by the rear passengers.
The car is said to also get a native operating system that will launch within 1.49 seconds after the doors of the car are unlocked. This operating system will integrate with the entire Xiaomi tablet ecosystem, while a gradual adaptation of over 5,000 applications is also planned. The operating system will also offer support for over 1,000 Xiaomi smart home devices, allowing users to seamlessly set up automation scenarios.
