Volkswagen Passat nets five star safety rating

Volkswagen has announced that its new Passat has been awarded a total of five stars in the latest rounds of safety tests conducted by the Euro NCAP consumer protection programme.
The car is said to have scored a rating of 93% in the 'Adult Occupant Protection' category, 87% for 'Child Occupant Protection'’, 83% for the 'Vulnerable Road Users' category, and 80% in the 'Safety Assist' category.
The Volkswagen Passat is offered with a host of driver assistance systems as standard internationally. These include the firm’s Side Assist and Lane Assist change system, Adaptive Cruise Control, as well as Park Distance Control (which offers acoustic and visual warning signals if there are obstacles in front or behind the car when parking), amongst others.
