Vauxhall Insignia gets new 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine

Vauxhall has also updated the Insignia’s range of 2.0-litre four-cylinder CDTI diesel engines for the Insignia ECOFlex. The engines, which are Euro 5 emissions compliant, is now available with start/stop technology, along with under-body aerodynamic measures and low rolling resistance tires help to improve fuel consumption.
The Insignia ECOFlex diesels are available with either 130bhp or 160bhp. With 130bhp, the Insignia ECOFlex is able to go from 0-100km/h in 10.4 seconds, and hit a top speed of 209km/h, while in its more powerful 160bhp guise, the 0-100km/h sprint time is 8.9 seconds, and top speed is 220km/h.
The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine is the same powerplant that is found in the Astra, and produces 140bhp and 200Nm of torque. The new engine is available for the Insignia hatchback, sedan and Sports Tourer estate models, and is claimed to return a fuel consumption figure of 5.5 litres per 100km.
