Rimac introduces new 2,078bhp Nevera R

If, for whatever reason you think the Porsche Taycan Tubro GT's 1,093bhp output is insufficient, you'll want to sit up for this one. Rimac has revealed the Nevera R, which is said to offer a total of 2,078bhp.
That power will see the Nevera R reaching 96km/h from a standstill in just 1.7 seconds - just about beating the Nevera's century sprint time of 1.8 seconds and making the Taycan Turbo GT's 2.2 second time look almost pedestrian. Top speed for the Rimac R, meanwhile, is a stratospheric 412km/h.
Handling upgrades for the Rimac Nevera R include the use of new Michelin Cup 2 tyres, as well as the addition of a large fixed rear wing and new diffuser
But the upgrades over the 'regular' Nevera don't stop there. The Nevera R gets a lower and sleeker body and it also gets a new wheel design, with longer spokes to accentuate their size (these are 20-inch items at the front and 21-inch items at the rear).
The Nevera R also comes with a large fixed rear wing, which, combined with a new diffuser, raises total downforce by 15% while raising aerodynamic efficiency by 10%. Rimac states that Nevera R is also better at resisting understeer thanks to its Michelin Cup 2 tyres, which also raise the car's lateral grip by 5%.
A new all-wheel torque vectoring system also makes its appearance in the Nevera R, while the car's traction control system has also been revised to deliver increased predictability even in wet conditions, and the steering system refined to deliver sharper response alongside greater feedback to the driver.
The Rimac Nevera R continues to make use of the 120kWh battery pack we saw on the regular Nevera. Total range offered by the car has yet to have been revealed.
The car is being launched in Nebula green, and its customisable interior has been updated with a host of additional colour and trim options, although customers can personalise items such as the main dashboard structure and centre console trims. Production of the Nevera R will be limited to just 40 examples.
