An AMG 7-speed sports transmission with four driving modes drives the rear wheels. The shooting brake AMG are fitted with an AMG sports suspension with steel suspension struts on the front and air suspension struts on the rear axle, on top of automatic level control, and an electronically controlled damping system. High-performance brakes with 360mm ventilated and perforated discs are featured besides an optional ceramic composite braking system with even larger discs.

The Edition 1 adds details and features like a 'designo magno allanite' grey paint finish, white pearl leather seats, carbon fiber trim in the cabin, roof lining in black microfiber and velour floor mats.
According to Mercedes the Shooting Brake AMGs will be launched in October 2012 with prices to be announced later.
Like its sedan-coupe variant, the AMG Shooting Brake is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo with an output of 518bhp and 700Nm of torque. All that power will see you hitting 100km/h in a quick 4.4 seconds. A limited performance package christened ‘Edition 1' would boost output to 550bhp and 800Nm of torque reducing the century sprint by 0.1s.
So 32 extra horses and 100Nm more torque just to go 0.1s does not make much sense, nonetheless both the AMG Shooting Brakes are electronically limited to a top speed of 250km/h with a combined fuel consumption of 10.1L/100km and CO2 emissions of 235g/km.

On the cosmetic front, the AMG Shooting Brake model sports a simple styling with new front and rear bumpers, LED daytime running lights, broader front wings, quad tailpipes and 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior sports a flat-bottom steering wheel, nappa leather, black piano lacquer trim, and AMG-specific analogue clock and instrument gauges.
