Mercedes-Maybach reveals its first all-electric vehicle: The EQS680 SUV

"What's the most comfortable way, to lead the way?" Mercedes asks in an introduction video that accompanies the reveal of the new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.
Indeed, the past years have seen the firm establishing quite the foothold in the all-electric luxury sector. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV will support charging speeds of up to 200kW, and currently has a provisional range of 600km Now, however, the firm is cementing its hold further in the super luxury segment with the reveal of this new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, at a time when super luxury rivals such as Rolls-Royce have yet to put to market its Spectre, or while Bentley has yet to reveal any definitive shape for its first all-electric vehicle, only letting on the fact that it will take after the design of the Batur.
Those that remember the Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS from September 2021 will be no stranger to the design of this production Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.
Up front for the car, the large black panel with vertical, chrome-plated trim strips from the concept has been retained. Also retained from the concept is the use of a two-tone paintwork, completed with a filigree pinstripe.
While at the rear, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV gets the shapely taillights that characterise the EQ models, although here they display a two-part helix light pattern, and are animated across the entire width.
MBUX Hyperscreen operates on a 'zero layer' principle, allowing access to 80% of common interactions without exiting the current application The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV also gets Maybach-exclusive 21 or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels complete with 'Maybach' lettering on the wheel hub caps. The car also gets running boards which are illuminated in the dark as standard.
In the cabin, seating is available only in two rows as on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. The MBUX Hyperscreen also continues to serve duty here, although its displays get Maybach-specific start-up animations, while the surrounds for the driver's instruments are finished in Rose Gold.
Rear passengers, meanwhile, will experience the same extensive range of infotainment and comfort features with two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats. The standard Executive here seats are equipped with ventilation, massage function and neck and shoulder heating.
The Nappa leather used for all seats are for the first time in a Mercedes, now tanned using coffee bean shells to cut the pollutive effects associated with conventional leather tanning.
Two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats will allow users to share content and modify the targeted destination for the navigation system The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV also gets as standard a Burmester 4D surround sound system comprising of 15 speakers for passenger entertainment of the go. And passenger comfort will be guaranteed thanks to the use of air suspension with continuously adjustable damping as standard.
Two permanently excited synchronous motors at either axle will offer a total output of 649bhp and peak torque of 950Nm.
