Mercedes-Benz releases new performance package kit for the C63 AMG

The Performance Package Plus is a factory-fitted kit from AMG, and is available for both the sedan and estate versions of the C63 AMG. The 6.3 litre V8 engine of the C63 AMG has been modified with forged pistons adopted from the SLS AMG supercar, as well as a lightweight crankshaft, new connecting rods and a new engine management system.

As a result, power has been increased 457bhp to 487bhp, easily matching the output of the E55 AMG. Torque now stands at 600Nm, which puts the C63 AMG with the performance package in the leagues of cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo, Nissan GT-R and even Mercedes-Benz’s own C-Class DTM touring car. The C63 AMG Performance Package Plus can go from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds for the sedan, and 4.5 seconds for the estate, with an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

There have also been some cosmetic enhancements, with the car getting an AMG carbon fibre lip spoiler on the boot lid for the sedan, a new AMG high-performance braking system and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather, with the grip area covered in strong but soft Alcantara. Black Designo leather is available as an option, and the material covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console.
