Local sales for Smart #1 begins today at VivoCity

The wait is over for fans of the Smart #1. Starting today (22 April 2024), you can place orders for not just one but two variants - the Smart #1 Pro+ and Smart #1 Brabus - of the brand's all-electric, premium compact SUV.
The commencement of sales for both cars was accompanied by specially composed fanfare taking the form of a roadshow at Central Court 1 of VivoCity, which will run up until 28 April 2024.
On display for the public to experience are, of course, the Smart #1 Pro+ and Brabus. According to the brand, however, the "star of the show" remains the Brabus. You might have read Sgcarmart's first coverage from the private media preview but let's take a refresh to see why the brand claims this to be so.
The Smart #1 Brabus boasts a peak output of 422bhp and 543Nm of torque courtesy of dual motors powered by a 66kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery. This allows the all-wheel drive (AWD) Brabus to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a scant 3.9 seconds.
Built with the same battery, the Smart #1 Pro+ - the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant - achieves a maximum power output of 268bhp and 343Nm of torque. It reaches 100km/h from a standstill in 6.7 seconds, just a couple of seconds longer than its AWD sibling.
The relative power of the Smart #1 Brabus will not surprise you if you're already well-acquainted with the world-renowned luxury mobility brand, Brabus. The Brabus edition, as such, benefits from the customisation and tuning that give it its impressive powerful performance albeit a modestly-sized frame. Due credit also goes to the additional electric motor on the front axle of the Smart #1 Brabus, which brings extra thrust to each of its drives.
But whether you choose the Smart #1 Pro+ or the Smart #1 Brabus, you stand to relish a WLTP-rated range of at least 400km on both cars. Those keen on the 'Pro+' trim will be especially pleased to know that this variant offers more range than the Brabus edition at 420km. It's also worth noting (again) that the two variants are capable of performing a 10% to 80% state-of-charge top up in less than 30 minutes when charging on a power of 130kW.
The Smart #1 lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) designed for urban terrain make for "very safe cars", says Mr. Christopher Thenadi, Head of Operations for Smart at Cycle & Carriage Singapore.
He adds that the Smart #1 range packs in safety features that are "present only in very premium cars comparable to the Mercedes-Benz top-of-the-line S-Class series". These include front and rear collision mitigation and cross traffic alerts, lane keeping assist as well as a driving monitoring system.
The Smart #1 EVs have received international acclaim for their innovative, human-centric design. Step inside and you'll be greeted by a thoughtfully crafted cabin - made possible by frameless doors, a floating halo roof, and floating centre console - that maximises the sense of space. The infotainment system does not disappoint either with its customised user interface, AI-based voice control, and a dedicated app environment.
In fact, the Smart #1 was recognised at the 2023 Red Dot Awards for Product Design, and the iF Design Awards, in the Product - Automobiles/Vehicles category.
If you're heading down to VivoCity to check out the Smart #1 Pro+ and Smart #1 Brabus, don't forget to pop by the interactive lifestyle booths. Named smart Active, smart Beats, and smart Style, these booths comprise a mix of photobooths, workshops and silent disco. They will tell you how the Smart #1 seamlessly integrates urban culture in its design and complements the spirit of co-creation.
Customers among those who purchase the first 20 units of the Smart #1 Pro+ or the Smart #1 Brabus will enjoy a promotional price of S$207,000 and S$242,000, respectively. Both prices are inclusive of COE.
And in case you don't already know, here's a fun fact: Smart got its name from Swatch's collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. That means, Smart is derived from "Swatch Mercedes-Benz Art".
