Lexus has updated the UX300h in the U.S.A with its fifth generation hybrid system.
The new drivetrain combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two motor-generators through a continuously variable transmission, while the battery of the hybrid system has also been upgraded to a lithium-ion in place of the previous system's nickel-metal hydride battery. Total system output as a result of this upgrade now stands at 196bhp, up from the 179bhp total power output the car used to offer.
The 2025 model year car is also said to now adopt shift-by-wire technology, which Lexus states offers a quicker and more seamless driving experience. Lexus estimates that front-wheel drive examples of the new UX will offer a fuel economy of 18.2km/L, while models equipped with the firm's E-Four all-wheel drive system will offer a fuel economy of 17.4km/L.
In the cabin, the crossover is said to get a new button layout on its door panels. The car also now comes equipped with a 12.3-inch driver's multi-information display as standard for 'Premium' and 'F Sport' trim models. A 7.0-inch multi-information display remains standard on base trim models. Lexus' 8.0-inch Interface touchscreen display also remains standard on all trims, although 'F Sport' models will get a 12.3-inch screen as standard.
The 2025 Lexus UX will also be offered in the U.S.A in a new Copper Crest exterior colour.
