Lexus launches new Cat A COE-friendly LBX in Singapore

Lexus has launched the new LBX at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show.

Short for 'Lexus Breakthrough X(cross)-over', the LBX arrives here in Singapore with a 129bhp hybrid drivetrain that utilises a 1.5-litre three-cylinder alongside a new bi-polar nickel metal hydride hybrid battery said to deliver high power density and output.

The total power output from this hybrid drivetrain makes the LBX the first crossover from Lexus to fall under the power cap for vehicles to be registered here with a Cat A COE.

Thankfully, the exterior design of this LBX continues to follow from the ques left by the rest of the vehicles in its lineup. Up front, the LBX sports the firm's 'Unified Spindle' front facia design which we have seen in vehicles including the Lexus RX, while the rear of the crossover has been designed to give it a planted stance and low visual centre of gravity.

And on the inside, customers can expect the same quality fit and finish that they have come to expect from Lexus. The firm states that the design of the cabin prioritises the delivery of an inviting and serene space so as to allow the driver to completely relax once in the vehicle.

Aiding affairs to this effect are features including a 64-coloiur ambient illumination system as well as a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system which is said to deliver an accurate and full-bodied soundstage alongside high clarity and definition.

The driver will be able to access all necessary driving information via the car's 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, while the 9.8-inch Lexus Link Connect system comes with an anti-reflective coating that makes it clear to read in all lighting conditions. A total of 402 litre of boot space is offered at the rear of the Lexus LBX.

Local authorised dealer Borneo Motors states that Lexus customers can stand to win a one-week test drive of the new LBX at the Singapore Motor Show. Test drives will be available at the Lexus Boutique from mid-January 2024 onwards.
