The latest to dawn the Lexus signature design - namely the spindle grille, is the all-new ES range. At the New York Auto Show, Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus, has unveiled two ES models, namely the ES350, and the first ever ES hybrid - the ES 300h.
Starring the ES range, the ES 300h hybrid will feature a 2.5-litre four cylinder engine with Atkinson cycle, which delivers a claimed economy rating of approximately 40 mpg (6L / 100km). The hybrid will offer four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and EV. On EV mode, the car will be driven by pure electric power from the hybrid system, but will be limited by speed and distance.
On the other hand, the ES 350 will encompass a 3.5-litre V6 with Dual VVT-i technology, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, in which Lexus names it Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). This combination delivers smooth shifting, enhanced fuel efficiency and uncompromised performance, partly through the incorporation of low friction materials.
Mark Templin, Vice President and General Manager of Lexus Group, shares his views for the new ES "TheLexus ES brought new levels of refinement, sophistication and quality to the entry luxury segment when it entered the market in 1989, and through the years it has consistently been a sales leader for us.
Templin added, “Now, with both gas and hybrid versions, the 2013 ES promises to lead Lexus forward once again.”
